The main difference between the home edition and the professional edition of Windows 7 is the ability to join a domain. For someone with one computer or a home network where they do not have a central server with a domain this is not a problem. If you put this type of operating system into a business network it becomes very difficult to manage the machine and the logon accounts. Access to other shared resources is also harder to secure and manage on the home edition. There are other differences but this is the one that always gets our customers in trouble. They pick up a machine at the local retail store, then call us up and have to spend another $300 plus dollars to get the upgraded software and the time to upgrade it. Best thing to do is call us and we can advise you what the best operating system for your situation is.
