Prevention is better than cure
It is hard to imagine what we would do without computers these days. Almost every company is dependant on technology to run its business. Engineers draw with CAD software instead of on paper, administrative offices rely on Quickbooks or similar software and banks need accurate account information. When the network goes down, it’s amazing how many people don’t know what to do without using their mouse or keyboard, and end up losing 60 to 80 percent of their productivity. Every day that the network or server is down because of a crash can cost your company a lot of money. Engineers and salespeople can’t make any money, but their salaries still have to be paid. Orders can’t be processed and bills can’t be sent out. In the mean time, you’ll have network engineers spending costly hours working on your server. If it turns out that your last good backup is three weeks old, you will lose even more time and money by having to enter all the lost data into the system again. The National Archives and Records Administration reports that 93% of companies that lose their data center for more than 10 days filed for bankruptcy that same year. The bottom line: Can you afford your network to go down?
By regularly checking a number of points on your servers and network, issues can be detected and fixed before they become a problem. Should your server crash anyway, you can fall back on a recent backup of your data.
