Windows 98 support ends July 2006
Microsoft has announced that all support for Windows 95/98 will stop July 2006. There will no longer be any updates or telephone support for the old operating systems.
This message came shortly after the preliminary release date of Windows Vista was announced. After the release of Windows 98, Microsoft released Windows ME, Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP.
Supporting Windows 98 is becoming more difficult. Hardware drivers are hard to find and many troubleshooting tools will only work on the newer operating systems.
If your company still has Windows 98 workstations, we recommend replacing these with up-to-date and supported machines.
